CPC offers a subsidized year-round and
a summer-only youth employment program
to New York City residents.

In-School Youth
Employment Program (ISYEP):
Open to current high school students between
the ages of 14 and 18. Program provides
after-school academic enhancement classes,
workshops on job search, resume writing
and interviewing skills; leadership development,
mentoring, and community service opportunities
as well as paid & unpaid internships
and work experience. Participants in this
program are automatically enrolled in SYEP
(see below). The application process typically
begins in September.
Summer Youth
Employment Program (SYEP):
Open to New York City residents
between the ages of 14 and 21. Program provides
various paid work experience during the
months of July and August. Worksites include
businesses, child-care centers, hospitals,
and government offices. The application
process typically begins in late-April and
May.

After-School
Program of Queens
ASPQ provides academic assistance and individual/family
counseling to junior high school and high
school students. Classes take place at the
Flushing YMCA Beacon Center at JHS 189 and
at Nan Shan Senior Center in downtown Flushing.

Youth-Training-Youth
Program
YTY is designed to serve "at-risk"
Asian American and other youth in the Flushing-Elmhurst
area. It aims to reduce risk by teaching
critical decision-making skills to high
school students. This is done through workshops
such as dealing with stress, peer pressure,
and identity issues.

Project Gateway
Project Gateway provides
high school students with individualized
college counseling and financial aid application.
The program also maintains an up-to-date
library of college bulletins, guides and
other materials that are open to all students.
The program also sponsors SAT prep classes,
seminars, workshops and college visitations
throughout the year.

PAVE
The Progressive Adolescent
Vocational Exploration (PAVE) is geared
for high school youth between the ages of
14 and 18 who are interested in career exploration.
The program runs weekly after-school workshops,
trips and activities that introduce youth
to the world of work and help them research
the requirements for career fields that
they are interested in.

Century Community Learning Center
This program is a
joint collaborative with Lower East Side
Preparatory High School and provides immigrant
and non-immigrant students with various
opportunities to supplement their high school
education with English proficiency classes,
homework help, computer classes, leadership
training and trips and community service
activities.
