Mission Statement

The mission of the CPC Volunteer Program is to address and to promote volunteerism and community service among young and old, professionals, students and other interested individuals from within and without the Chinese community. By promoting the value of community service, the CPC volunteer program supports the overall mission of the Chinese-American Planning Council to build bridges between immigrant and mainstream society, and to engender a collective spirit toward the goals of social progress.

By placing qualified volunteers into CPC programs, the Volunteer Program seeks to promote internal communication and dialogue. We will provide our service community with an opportunity to learn and to experience from those who are volunteering their services; hence we will promote a collective spirit of giving back to the community while also helping ourselves.

The Goals of the Volunteer Program therefore are:

>> To raise community service and volunteerism as noble steps toward building for social progress.
>> To reach out to and to educate the broader community about our volunteer needs and opportunities.
>> To search for, and to recruit, locate and place qualified and committed volunteers within our existing and developing programs.
>> Through volunteer recruitment and documentation efforts, the Volunteer Program will seek to bring integration of CPC's many community-based programs around a collective vision of community service.
