The centers’ nutritious, family-style meals constitute a popular reason to congregate in the dining rooms at noon. Meals-On-Wheels delivers meals to those who are homebound.

The Chinatown Senior Citizens’ Center in Manhattan boasts an orchestra room, where senior citizens perform for their peers. The Project Open Door Senior Citizens Center in Manhattan has hosted senior art shows, which integrate traditional Chinese art, western styles, and photography. The Nan Shan Senior Citizens Center is the hub of Queens’ Asian community and is now seeking to broaden to other localities. All of the centers strive to preserve and expand senior services and programs.

Seniors may benefit from multilingual services provided by the Brooklyn walk-in center and the Manhattan Multi-Social Services Center. The elderly can receive information and help on entitlement, food stamps and housing applications, case assistance, and bereavement services. They can also learn English, in addition to knowledge about health and nutrition. Recreational activities range from calligraphy, bingo, and tai chi, to dancing, news groups, and music performance.

CPC also operates one of the largest Home Attendant Programs that gives friendly home care services to seniors in the five boroughs, as well as to those who are medically disabled and/or physically handicapped. The program works with clients, their families, and physicians in tailoring each home care plan.

Located in a former elementary school building converted for usage by community-based and non-profit organizations, CSCC is celebrated for its orchestra room, where seniors actively practice and perform for their predominantly Cantonese-speaking peers.

Currently CPC's only senior center in the outer boroughs, Nan Shan is a vibrant social center in the Flushing's Chinese/Korean community hub. Serving many Mandarin Chinese speakers, Nan Shan's senior advisory board has been very active in planning for Nan Shan's expansion outside of its current location.

Under the leadership of Ms. Po-ling Ng, Project Open Door's vivacious director, Project Open Door is known for its active senior advisory board, but also for it tireless advocacy for senior services. Project Open Door has been the site of numerous cultural events such as senior art shows integrating traditional Chinese art, Western styles and photography.
