Our program aims to strengthen and enrich the lives of its working parents who are primarily non-English speaking, and to provide for their children with an enrichment program. The children at the First Avenue Center are socially enriched through diverse ethnic environment of the Lower East Side. We have maintained good relationships over the years with other community facilities and organizations, and have taken advantage of what they have to offer; this including many team sports, music lessons and reading workshops at the library. We continue to strive to provide a program that meets the needs of our children and their families.

Since first opened in 1971, Chung Pak/Chrystie Street Day Care Center has continued to serve the children, providing them with homework help and extra curricular activities. Many students have graduated from the center and have returned to be active members of the community, some returning to be the teaching staff for the day care center.

Pike Street SADCC was established in February, 1971, in responding to the needs of parents and children of the community. The day care center is dedicated to ensuring that all children are healthy, educated and safe, and provides children with a positive learning experience that can have an enduring impact on their learning potential and activities fall into four broad categories:
a. reinforcing skills and knowledge
b. academic assistance through a varied curriculum
c. recreation and physical activities
d. enrichment programs
