The Lower Manhattan Spring 2009 Job Fair has been gaining a lot of attention this week due to our citywide outreach efforts.  Job Fair flyers have been distributed by our wonderful volunteers throughout Lower Manhattan and even more have been distributed electronically through our network of friends and supporters.  Calls are coming in non-stop with questions about the Job Fair.  If you have a question or would like more information, please call us at 212-941-0041 EXT. 309 and leave us a message.  We will update the information on our message system on an ongoing basis so check back often.

March 30th, 2009
Employers participating in the Lower Manhattan Spring 2009 Job Fair keep increasing!  Companies like Con Edison, National Grid, Time Warner Cable, the NYC Fire Department, Police Cadet Corps, HSBC Bank, 95.5 WPLJ, Aflac, Metlife and many others are participating.  These great companies will be bringing over 500 career opportunities with them so be sure to come early and be prepared for on the spot interviews.  If you need help with writing or improving your resume, contact us to make an appointment for our resume writing workshop.  Spaces are limited so reserve your spot in the workshop today.  There are only 17 days until the Job Fair.

Response to our resume writing workshops has been tremendous! We helped over 11 people with their resumes today. Appointments are filling up fast for future sessions so be sure to call and reserve your seat soon. New employers such as Verizon Wireless, Office of Court Interpreting Services, MTA Railroad and Primerica Financial have also registered to be part of the Job Fair. As our list of employers grow so too the number of job opportunities available. The Lower Manhattan Spring 2009 Job Fair is only 15 days away so get your resumes ready and start working on how you will sell yourself to the employers.

Here is a breakdown of what industries are going to be present at the Lower Manhattan Spring 2009 Job Fair. We have one company from the Transportation, Warehouse & Storage industry, along with a handful from the Information, Telecommunications & Communications industry. A couple of Utility companies, including our Premium Sponsor National Grid, will also be participating. Companies from the Education, Health and Human Services sector comprise our biggest industry, with fifteen employers. There are also five representatives from Finance, six from Government and a few from Manufacturing and Non-Profit industries. If you are targeting a specific industry, be sure to make your resume reflect your skills and qualifications. Remember, if you want to write or improve your resume, you can sign up for our resume writing workshops. People are making appointments and coming in on a daily basis. With the Lower Manhattan Spring 2009 Job Fair just 10 days away things are really picking up steam. Employers are finalizing their preparations for representing their companies at the fair and we are also busy preparing maps for job seekers to easily identify the booths they want to target. Everything is falling into place and we are working hard to ensure that the job fair will be beneficial to both employers and job seekers. Remember resume workshops are still available to those who need it. No one will be allowed in without resumes.

April 15th, 2009
With the Lower Manhattan Spring 2009 Job Fair just two days away, all attendees have been confirmed and all plans have been finalized. A press conference was held yesterday at our Central Office to promote the event through various media outlets throughout Lower Manhattan. Special guests included New York State Senator Daniel Squadron, a representative from Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer’s office, a representative from the Public Advocate Office and a member of the NYC Business Solutions Center. Press in attendance included Sing Tao Newspaper, Sino TV, Ntdtv.com, Ming Pao, Epoch Times, and World Journal.
